Gum health and periodontics
Periodontal disease is quiet, chronic and the main cause of tooth loss in adults — not cavities. The good news: caught early, it is managed with hygiene and maintenance.
The warning signs
Bleeding when brushing, persistent bad breath, receding gums or loose teeth. Any one of them justifies a periodontal evaluation, not a stronger mouthwash.
What treatment looks like
A measured diagnosis (pockets, X-rays), deep cleaning in sessions and a maintenance calendar every few months. Surgery exists for advanced cases and is rarer every year.
It is managed, not cured
Like diabetes, periodontitis is controlled: maintenance visits and home care keep it stable for decades. Skipping maintenance restarts the clock at a worse point.
